a prayer from Psalm 86

Come close my God, and hear my prayer. 

I cry out to you, because I know that you hear me. 

I place myself in your hands. 

Teach me to be faithful. 

Create in me an undivided heart, 

that I may be unwavering in my devotion to you.

Even in the face of violence and evil,

I will trust in you to save and deliver me. 

For you are a compassionate and gracious God, 

Slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Come close, my God, and hear my prayer. 

Remind me of your goodness once again, 

For you, Lord, are my help and my comfort.
