In the first sermon of our series entitled, "Welcome Home", Pastor Milissa took us on a beautiful journey through Scripture, revealing that the entire biblical narrative is about God's relentless desire to dwell with us. We invite you to spend the next five days reflecting and praying through this devotional based on that message.
Day 1: The Garden of God's Presence
Rest: Take 2 minutes of silence and invite God - Father, Son, and Spirit - to draw near to you in this time.
Read: Genesis 2:4-17
Reflect: From the very beginning, God's desire was to dwell with humanity. The Garden of Eden wasn't just a beautiful location—it was the overlap of heaven and earth, where God walked with Adam and Eve in perfect communion. Notice the river flowing from Eden, symbolizing God's presence extending to the entire world. The trees provided beauty and sustenance, showing God's generous provision. You were created for this same intimacy with your Creator. Though sin separated heaven from earth, God never abandoned His plan to be with you.
Pause and talk with the Lord: where do I most sense God's presence? How can I cultivate awareness of His desire to dwell with me right now, not just in eternity?
Respond: Spend a moment thanking God for this time, invite Him to continue to speak throughout this day, and close by praying the "Our Father".

Day 2: Separated Spaces, Persistent Love
Rest: Take 2 minutes of silence and invite God - Father, Son, and Spirit - to draw near to you in this time.
Read: Isaiah 6:1-8
Reflect: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." Even after humanity's rebellion separated heaven from earth, God's glory still fills creation. Isaiah's vision reveals both the transcendence of God's space and His persistent desire to bridge the gap. The seraphim's worship reminds us that all creation points to its Creator. When you stand at the top of a mountain, walk through a forest, or watch rain fall, you're experiencing God's glory manifested in His creation. These moments aren't just beautiful—they're invitations to recognize God's presence everywhere.
Pause and listen for His voice... in fact, take some time to step outside and intentionally look for God's glory in creation. Let nature become your temple, drawing your eyes upward in worship and wonder.
Respond: Spend a moment thanking God for this time, invite Him to continue to speak throughout this day, and close by praying the "Our Father".

Day 3: Jesus, the Living Temple
Rest: Take 2 minutes of silence and invite God - Father, Son, and Spirit - to draw near to you in this time.
Read: John 1:1-14
Reflect: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us." The Greek word for "dwelling" literally means "tabernacled"—Jesus pitched His tent with humanity. He is the ultimate overlap of heaven and earth, God's presence in human form. Unlike the old temple that required distance and sacrifice, Jesus brought God's presence directly into the mess of human life—touching lepers, dining with sinners, healing the broken. He didn't stay in safe, clean spaces; He created pockets of heaven wherever He went. This same Jesus now invites you into intimate relationship. Through His sacrifice, the separation is removed. You don't need to journey to a distant heaven—heaven has come to you in Christ.
Pause and listen for His voice. Talk with the Jesus about how knowing Him as the living temple could change your understanding of God's accessibility?
Respond: Spend a moment thanking God for this time, invite Him to continue to speak throughout this day, and close by praying the "Our Father".

Day 4: The Spirit Makes You Home
Rest: Take 2 minutes of silence and invite God - Father, Son, and Spirit - to draw near to you in this time.
Read: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 2:19-22
Reflect: When you trust in Jesus, something extraordinary happens: the Holy Spirit takes residence in your heart. You become a temple, a dwelling place for God Himself. This isn't metaphorical—God's presence literally lives within you. You are no longer separated from heaven; you carry heaven's reality inside you. This transforms everything. Your body becomes sacred space. Your daily activities become opportunities for worship. Your relationships become channels for God's presence to flow into the world. As part of the church, you're being built together into a dwelling where God lives by His Spirit. This is why authentic community matters—we experience God's presence more fully together. Today, live with awareness that you are God's home. How does this truth change your choices, words, and interactions?
Pause and listen for His voice. In light of His Word, ask God to show you how to live with awareness that you are God's home. How does this truth change your choices, words, and interactions?

Day 5: The Garden City Awaits
Rest: Take 2 minutes of silence and invite God - Father, Son, and Spirit - to draw near to you in this time.
Read: Revelation 21:1-7; 22:1-5
Reflect: The story that began in a garden ends in a garden city—the ultimate reunion of heaven and earth. Notice the river of life flowing again, the tree of life restored, and God dwelling directly with His people. "They will see his face"—the intimacy of Eden returns, but even better. Death, pain, and separation are gone forever. This isn't about escaping earth for a cloudy heaven; it's about heaven coming to transform earth into our eternal home. Until then, we pray "Your kingdom come on earth as in heaven," participating in God's mission to create pockets of heaven now. Your longing for home, belonging, and purpose points to this coming reality. Let this hope anchor you through today's chaos. What you do in partnership with God now matters for eternity. Welcome home.
Pause and listen for His voice. As you close this devotional journey, ask the Lord to show you where you can partner with "on earth as in heaven" in your current life and circumstance.
Respond: Spend a moment thanking God for this time, invite Him to continue to speak throughout this day, and close by praying the "Our Father".
