We have a vision here at Redwood: That Northwestern Ontario would become one of the best places to live in Canada for all people. We believe that this happens as people are wholistically reconciled to God, the earth, each other, and themselves. This is the mission that we believe God has given us. This is all rooted in Jesus words - known as The Great Commission - to go and make disciples in His name.
We are entering into an exciting season of exploration as God opens up doors in the city, in our region, and even globally for us to live this vision and mission out. And so we invite you to join us in exploration - to pray, to lean in, and to give.
We have a goal to raise $100,000 above-and-beyond our regular giving to fund this season of Exploration that we are collectively entering into.
We know that God is moving - and that when we are on the Holy Spirit’s timing, doors could open at any time, and we want to be able to nimbly step through as we explore our part in this Great Commission in Thunder Bay, Northwestern Ontario, and beyond.
So why $100,000?
Last fall, a Redwood member approached us - sensing God’s call to “therefore Go”- and considering he has a spiritual gift of generosity, he wondered, if funds were not a limited factor, what did I believe God was calling us to? He gently challenged and encouraged me - don’t let budget constraints shrink the vision and mission God has for us. If he’s calling us, He will provide.
So we began to discern with a small group of people and felt that this is a season of exploration. We know our vision and mission, but we’re still looking for the specifics. If funds weren’t an issue, we’d lean in hard to Exploration - following the Holy Spirit's lead confident that at some point it will be a specific "go to this place and do this thing,” but for now, it’s a "go and explore”.
And so this person offered to match up to $25,000 of above-and-beyond giving for the purposes of this season of Exploration.
From there, we approached some Redwood members and asked if they would give towards this Exploration Matching Campaign, and as of Sunday, $25,000 was raised, and thus matched.
At this point I now invite you to please considering giving above-and-beyond to this Exploration Campaign. We have a goal to raise $100,000 and guess what, we’re already half-way there!
When we reach this goal by June 30, we will step into next fall’s Holy Spirit Exploration season with one less hindrance in our way! When God opens the door and tells us to go we will nimbly be able to walk through and follow the spirit’s lead.
So, Redwood, let’s Explore! Let’s pray. Let’s Lean In. And let’s Give.
