Volunteer Opportunities

Usher/Greeter:

Do you love to welcome and help people?  If you do, Redwood is in need of folks to serve on Sunday mornings as ushers and greeters.  Greeters are typically our guests FIRST encounter with Redwood Church.  What do you need?  A big smile and a warm heart to welcome those into the building on Sunday mornings.  Ushers are those who are the second phase of “welcoming” as they receive our church family and guests into the auditorium with a bulletin and a warm smile.  Ushers assist with helping to take up the morning offering and also help pass trays at our Communion Services.  Generally folks are part of a rotation that serves once or twice a month if you prefer.

Welcome Desk:

Do you like to answer questions and give direction?  If so, consider helping us at our Welcome Desk.  Our Welcome Desk volunteers help answer questions about Redwood, direct folks to where they need to go around the church, facilitate book sales and give out information.  It’s a great way to interact with new people and the information you need to know is provided.

Café:

Maybe you’re a barista in the making!  Consider helping us in the café serving coffee and tea and creating a great environment for those ready to enjoy both a cup of coffee and a connection with God!  What a great combo!

Communion Prep and Tear Down :

We are always glad to find folk willing to help us with our monthly communion services.  Whether it’s getting things ready or cleaning things up, it’s a job always appreciated.

Our weekend services and special events would not happen without the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. These hard-working individuals shun the spotlight and pull together all aspects of the technical side of our Sunday services.Currently we are adding to the following teams:

Lyrics & On-Screen Visuals:

  • These are the team members who cue all the on-screen visuals during our services – playing videos, slides, and cueing up lyrics while the band leads in music.
  • team members must be comfortable behind a computer (we will 100% train you on our software)

Lighting Operator:

  • These team members cue various lighting cues from our lighting board and computer throughout the various elements of our Sunday services. it sounds scarier than it really is! We will train you on how to use our software from the ground up, no experience necessary.
  • Team members must be comfortable using a computer and need to be cool calm and collected in what can sometimes be busy and high pressure moments.

If you like to pray for people and have a heart just to express care and compassion, we’d love to talk with you about how to get involved on our prayer teams.  We have folks serving on a “prayer chain” and folks who pray for people on a Sunday morning for starters.  If this is something you have an interest in, please let us know and we’d love to talk with you more.

Marriage Mentors:

If you’ve been married for 10+ years and have an interest in helping other couples who are early on in the journey, we’d love to talk to you about some opportunities that we have.  Please let us know!

Classroom Leads:

In all our classroom we are looking for people who have a passion for children to learn about God in all capacities. We need adults who can lead a group of children through activities, a bible story, and a craft all with a meaning and purpose. The Kids Min team is here to serve you! When you come to serve on Sunday, the room is ready to go! And we mean everything! Our focus is on serving you so that you are free to engage and serve the kids.

Classroom Assistant:

In all our classroom we are looking for people who have a passion for children to learn about God in all capacities. With many children in the classroom, we are always in need of extra hands to help make the program run well and to be hands on with the children. Our goal is to make sure every room has enough adult support to make sure all the children are engaged and well cared for as they participate in the program. This is such an important role that really does impact the quality of the room in many ways.

Hallway Monitor/Greeter:

The safety and well being of our children is of utmost importance. Getting children into their classrooms and signed out can get busy. Our goal is to make it as easy a process as we possibly can, from helping parents sign their kids in at the computers, to getting them into the right classroom and once program has started keeping the hallways clear for only ministry personnel and the kids.

Welcome Team:

You are the first person families will see and you play such an important role! The welcome desk not only welcomes new families and gets them engaged in the program, but also is the information hub of it all! Warm, friendly people are a must!

Jr. Leaders:

In Kids Min, we are very proud of our Jr Leader program! We believe that preteens have great qualities, gifts and skills and we want to start investing in them as soon as we can! They are worth it! When the kids turn 12 years old they are welcome to sign up for the program and start using their gifts and skills – from helping in the classroom with the kids, to computer help and soon through worship. Our Jr Leaders are such as asset to kids min and it is such a pleasure to see them grow, learn and gain confidence in who they are and the gifts that God gave them.

Jr. High Leader:

We have a great Junior High program here at Redwood. Junior High is an age where kids get to discover who they are and make their faith their own. Leaders will get the opportunity to play big games, lead small groups, and be a part of students lives.

High School Leader:

If you have a passion for reaching students and are willing to get a little dirty, be around loud students, and don’t take yourself to seriously we have a place for you at our Sunday night High School Program.

High School Small Group Leader:

We have an amazing group of High School Students and getting to walk with them through life and encourage them in their journey is a huge privilege. Leaders would be expected to prepare lessons, meet regularly, and be a part of students lives.

Set Building:

Every once in a while we put on some huge events and need sets built! We also need things painted and decorated.
